So I suppose you are going to turn me over to the king then?"
The smile he gave her was almost childishly impish. “Do you want me to?” He asked, tilting his head. Though Gin wasn’t sure what he was going to do with her, but he was sure of one thing: Bill wasn’t getting his hands on her. He’d hand her over to Northman before that happened. “It can be easily arranged- and it would be a nice payment for skiving off the other day…”
His dark eyes flicked to the cd player as she put the music in, resisting the urge to press the buttons on that as well. He needed to focus, to get his head on straight. He had something that could be a goldmine on his hands… or a bomb. Gin wasn’t particularly interested in the money, but it was pretty much inevitable if he wanted to survive this. If Bill found out he had known about a telepath and didn’t say anything…. Let’s just say that Gin would much rather deal with the inconvenience of a lot of money.
"My name is Miso. I suppose that is something you will find out anyway, and before you go making fun of my name meaning "Bean" I will have you know it was because my mother was eating Miso soup at the time she went into labor and it just stuck. "
The noise that Gin made could have been a stifled laugh, or it might have been him choking. As he wasn’t breathing, chances are it was the second. Either way, his expression was hilarious. “Is that so?” It didn’t even occur to him that a normal response would include his own name- he just assumed everyone knew it by now, considering he went from one monarch to another, it wasn’t like his name wasn’t common enough to hear on people’s lips. The fact that a human who didn’t usually associate with vampires might not know it didn’t even cross his mind.
"Please don't."
“Don’t what?”

“Do you want me to? It can be easily arranged- and it would be a nice payment for skiving off the other day…”
He was teasing her right? She was looking over at him like he had just told her he was going to throw her into a volcano. "I would want that just as much as you would want to be silver chained by vampire drainers" She truly hoped he knew what sarcasm was. She also wondered why she didn't just answer him with a simple shake of her head like she would anybody else. He was bringing out a different side of her, it was like.. he was bringing out Soup.
He probably would of laughed if he found out the name of her alter-ego.
“Don’t what?”
"Don't turn me over to the king. Please don't turn me over to anyone."
Her eyes were pleading, soft and vulnerable as she reached one hand to place on his knee. She didn't know why she was doing what she was, she never touched anyone first and certainly not to someone she barely knew. The truth was if he had wanted he could snap forward, grab her and sink his fangs into her neck. Just like that, it would be the end of her, and nobody would hear her scream and even if they did - the closest people were the ones in the picket line that would surely think she deserved it.
He had been right, she had played a dangerous game.
"I will be in your debt. You don't seem like the others, that care to have a pet and that is not what I want to be. But I can be of use of to you, or you can just let me go and pretend we never met and I'll never come back here. But I don't want to be turned over to anyone, and if I ultimately had no other sort of choice I would rather it be you."

"I would want that just as much as you would want to be silver chained by vampire drainers"
Ah yes, drainers. Yet another bane to his existence. Gin didn’t miss the slight touch of sarcasm in her voice, and his grin widened. So this girl had some bite after all- he had been a little worried. “What if I did want that very much?” He arranged his features into a look of slight offense, but they both knew he was playing with her. Toying with her, like an adult cat with a kitten, rather than a mouse. He found her amusing.
"Don't turn me over to the king. Please don't turn me over to anyone."
“Why not? I can assure you you’d be well cared for. The king is nothing if not hospitable.” Gin had to give Bill that much. He had hospitality down to an art form- it was the rest of it that Gin felt he had to work on. Russell Edgington, now that was a true a king. Bill could never measure up to Gin.
As she touched him, Gin stilled, staring at her long and hard. It wasn’t that he wasn’t used to humans trying to touch him, but it was her intent. She was treating him like an equal, not like a… master. Or even an inferior. It puzzled Gin, and things that puzzled him tended to unsettle him as well. “The King would be honored to have you.” He said more quietly, still watching. “I can’t even begin to tell you the riches that would be showered upon you.”
”"I will be in your debt. You don't seem like the others, that care to have a pet and that is not what I want to be. But I can be of use of to you, or you can just let me go and pretend we never met and I'll never come back here. But I don't want to be turned over to anyone, and if I ultimately had no other sort of choice I would rather it be you."
“I don’t want a pet.” Gin said, frowning slightly. “I don’t like the responsibility.” Well, that was part of it. A small part of it. It was a lot more acceptable to admit that than to say he still retained too much of his humanity to feel comfortable enslaving, as it were, another person. “What exactly can you do for me that would be worth my while?” He asked, resting his hand on his chin. He had already made up his mind… but she didn’t need to know that.

“What if I did want that very much?” The 'yeah right' expression on her face right then was priceless. She knew completely he was kidding around but if she could be sarcastic to him than it was more than fair he returned the favor.
“Why not? I can assure you you’d be well cared for. The king is nothing if not hospitable.” She believed him, Bill Compton was well known for being one of the more 'gentlemen' of vampires in Louisiana. If she remembered correctly he was even a member of the chamber of commerce and got along well with the elderly of Bon Temps.
“The King would be honored to have you." She could feel his eyes watching her, but she was now looking out the opposite window. “I can’t even begin to tell you the riches that would be showered upon you.” "I am not interested in riches." So what was she interested in? She already knew what she wasn't interested in.
“I don’t want a pet. I don’t like the responsibility.” That was oddly reassuring to Miso as she looked away from the window and back at him. She had actually been expecting his next question. “What exactly can you do for me that would be worth my while?”
She rose her eyebrows slightly, giving him an expression that read 'you really don't know?'. At this point, she had a feeling he already knew but just wanted her to say it.
"What vampire wouldn't want their own telepath at their disposal? I can be in places that you can't be, I can hear things you can't hear and give you an advantage over others. You would be one step ahead of anyone else and - "
She stopped mid-speech, wondering how that made her any different than her being his pet?
"I could be an informant. My services, my .. gifts, would be at your disposal should you need them. I would only talk to you, I don't fair my chances with anyone else. Most vampires pass me off anyway, even knowing I smell different from other humans. I am not completely familiar with the way it works, but the only vampire I would want to be part of is you. Take it as you will."
Why was she doing this? Essentially offering herself up to him on a silver platter? Any vampire would be salivating over the opportunity but he was hard to read. He was intrigued, but she was also intrigued by him. He was different, still in touch with his humanity and Miso.. well Miso, felt a kinship with him she couldn't explain. Regardless of what the next words out of his mouth were, Miso's life was going to change that night.
There was no doubt about that.

"I am not interested in riches."
That was news to Gin. Both alive and dead, he had never met a human that didn’t have an interest in riches. Even when they said they didn’t, they did. Most vampires always followed this philosophy as well, so he wasn’t so sure he believed her. Then again, he was pretty sure- judging by the things he could hear and see- that she wasn’t lying, either. Puzzling.
“You’d be a first.”
Of course he knew the answer to his question. He always had a pretty good guess for what the answers were before he asked things, but he used it as a sort of check and balance. If he was right, all was well with the universe. When he was wrong… well, that usually meant someone was lying. It wasn’t foolproof, but what ever was?
"What vampire wouldn't want their own telepath at their disposal? I can be in places that you can't be, I can hear things you can't hear and give you an advantage over others. You would be one step ahead of anyone else and - "
Gin raised his own eyebrows in mirror of her previous expression. Clearly she either didn’t know the meaning of the word pet, or she was trying to use reverse psychology on him. “Oh, do tell.” He said dryly. “Why would I want my own telepath, again?”
“Sounds like you like me.” He said with a cheerfulness he didn’t fully feel. “I would say I’m flattered, but I would be lying.” He flashed a smile in hopes of distracting her from trying to read his face for hints of his thoughts. “I have no use for a telepath, not for any reason that I can fathom now or in the future. You would be best cutting your losses and,” he grit his teeth, hating to say it, “going to Bill.” He didn’t care for the current King of Louisiana, but when it came down to it, Gin wanted to keep his head. He needed to stop grousing and do his job, lest Bill decide he was as big a threat as, oh, say, Sophie-Anne. Gin knew that Bill hadn’t exactly played fair, and he had no problems thinking that Bill wouldn’t be afraid to do it again.

“Sounds like you like me. I would say I’m flattered, but I would be lying.””
Her cheeks turned a bright pink right then and she shook her head softly. "I barely know you. I just feel that my fate is better in your hands than in anybody else's." Apparently her whole opinion to him had been in vain when the next sentence flowed from his lips. "I have no use for a telepath, not for any reason that I can fathom now or in the future. You would be best cutting your losses and, going to Bill.”
She frowned, and shook her head to his request. "I would rather take my chances on my own. I apologize for any inconvenience you have met tonight because of me." She swallowed and started her car, waiting for him to make his exit. "You won't have to worry about seeing me here again, but thank you for coming to my aid tonight. It meant a lot"
All that was left now, was for Miso to go home and forget tonight ever happened. Tomorrow was other night, after all.

"I barely know you. I just feel that my fate is better in your hands than in anybody else's."
“It was a joke.” He blinked. “But your trust is really astounding.” How did she know he wouldn’t trade her over for a carton of True Blood, or a yacht, or a Sheriff position? Granted, Gin didn’t want any of those- except maybe the True Blood- but how did she know that? He didn’t know too much about telepaths, but he knew they couldn’t hear vampires. Bill had said so, and Miso herself had confirmed it.
"I would rather take my chances on my own. I apologize for any inconvenience you have met tonight because of me."
“You’re being irrationally reckless. If anyone overheard us, you could be as good as dead by morning. Take Bill’s protection. Use it to make yourself safe.” Or disappear like Sookie, when she decided she didn’t want his protection anymore…
"You won't have to worry about seeing me here again, but thank you for coming to my aid tonight. It meant a lot"
Gin shook his head, sliding out of the car and pausing, holding the door open. “If you do come back,” he said after a moment. “Tell anyone that bothers you that you do so under Gin’s protection. It won’t stop the more ambitious vampires, but it should make them think twice.” He held her gaze a second longer, shook his head, and shut the door.
A dangerous game indeed.

“It was a joke.” She swallowed and lowered her head, giving herself completely away that she didn't realize it was a joke at all. “But your trust is really astounding.” It was actually, her trust in him even surprised her and she blamed it on the fact she couldn't read his mind. In some twisted way, that made him easier to trust than someone whose mind she could read whenever she wanted.
“You’re being irrationally reckless. If anyone overheard us, you could be as good as dead by morning. Take Bill’s protection. Use it to make yourself safe.” She didn't want Bill's protection, and she looked at Gin as she prepared to tell him why. "Bill already has a telepath to protect Gin, it would only eventually cause conflict. I don't think Ms.Stackhouse would like it, I think it would make her feel like I some how was stepping on her toes. I don't want that kind of attention"
It made sense to her, she just didn't know if it would make sense to him. She watched as he slid out of the car, one hand on the door to continue to address her. “If you do come back, tell anyone that bothers you that you do so under Gin’s protection. It won’t stop the more ambitious vampires, but it should make them think twice.”
She was surprised, that at the last moment he would end up offering his protection anyway. He truly confused the hell out of her but instead of telling him that she simply nodded and responded with two words.
"Arigatou, Gin"
At least she had learned his name.
