“I don’t feel so great, no.”
It was a tad bit unusual for Cajun to hear that, then again - maybe the last girl he used those drugs on just had a higher stamina. For all he knew, Halleigh could of been anorexic - girls tended to keep that to themselves and of course he could of cared less. As long as they stayed skinny for him, he found chubby girls disgusting - yes, he was just that much of an asshole.
“Did we? I don’t remember.”
"We did."
He offered no other explanation on the subject, trying to keep his lies as few as possible before they ended up biting him in the ass.
“No… would you mind giving me a ride back to my car? I’m going to go home and lie down… If I am sick, I don’t want to give this to you.”
"Oh, you don't have to worry about that. I'm sure whatever you have isn't contagious. Like I said, a stomach bug or food poisoning because I am feeling fine and I slept like a baby."
He wasn't the one that took the drug.
“I left my car at… Merlotte’s?”
He had forgot about that. Hopefully the owner of that damn bar didn't have Halleigh's car towed - that would be hard to explain. As far as she knew, she had only spent the night there, not twenty six whole hours.
"You did. Too drunk to drive home. Sure, I'll give you a ride - get yourself better by tonight because tonight is a fellowship meeting and I need you there with me."

"We did."
Halleigh was sure she was being paranoid, but the fact that he made a point to confirm it once again- as if setting the idea in her mind- made her wonder just what else had happened last night. “All right.” She agreed slowly.
"Oh, you don't have to worry about that. I'm sure whatever you have isn't contagious. Like I said, a stomach bug or food poisoning because I am feeling fine and I slept like a baby."
“Still, can’t be too careful…” Everything felt completely mixed up to Halleigh, as if there was something important she had forgot to do… but what? She had come over here with Cajun, that much was obvious, but she didn’t remember going to bed, or even driving over here…. And Halleigh wasn’t one to forget things. Maybe it was just the stomach bug, or maybe… No. Cajun was a good guy, despite how irritating he could be at times.
"You did. Too drunk to drive home. Sure, I'll give you a ride - get yourself better by tonight because tonight is a fellowship meeting and I need you there with me."
Okay, something was definitely up. Halleigh was not much of a drinker, and she could recall only one instance that she had ever been drunk enough that she couldn’t take herself home, and that had been the night she had spent in the hammock in the back yard because she couldn’t figure out how to unlock the back door. That Cajun was suggesting that last night… best to just let it go. She would puzzle it out later when he wasn’t looking at her expectantly.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea. I really just want to go home and go back to bed.”

“Still, can’t be too careful…”
Her stubbornness was getting irritating. He had picked Halleigh because she seemed to actually have a head on her shoulders but now he was wondering if he had made the right choice. Still, Cajun wasn't one to give up - he still enjoyed the challenge and he was determined to tame the pretty thing yet.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea. I really just want to go home and go back to bed.”
"I'll pick you up at five."
The tone in his voice meant that it wasn't a request - and he wasn't about to beg either.
"We will do something nice that you want after the meeting is done. I just ask this one thing of you Halleigh, please don't be stubborn about it."
As much as he was trying to keep his voice level, his tone had been laced with anger. As if he was gritting his teeth, clenching his jaw, ready to strike.

"I'll pick you up at five."
Silence followed his statement as Halleigh stared at him. He was demanding she do something? She wasn’t a dog to be told what to do- and had she been feeling any better at all, Halleigh would have told him that exactly. Instead, she looked away- she would just text him later and reiterate that she wasn’t feeling well and was staying home. Then he could go pout all on his own, and she wouldn’t have to listen to him whine now. “Fine.”
"We will do something nice that you want after the meeting is done. I just ask this one thing of you Halleigh, please don't be stubborn about it."
“I said fine.” She repeated, giving him a look that was nearly as loaded as his own. “Can I go home now?” She knew she was being ungracious, after all, he hadn’t thrown her out last night when she had been sick or drunk or… something… but she had had enough of being domineered and told what to do. If this relationship was going to last, he needed to learn that and quickly- she did not take well to being bossed around.
“After all,” She added sarcastically, “I wouldn’t want to look terrible for your oh-so-important meeting tonight.”

“I said fine.”
Cajun was clenching his fist behind his back, forcing a smile on his face. It would be pointless to make a move now or else she wouldn't agree to go to the meeting tonight. He was bitter that he was losing his control, something he was not use to. He wanted to be the one in control, not the other way around - that wasn't how the world was suppose to work. Women were suppose to know their place, maybe Halleigh didn't read the memo.
“Can I go home now?”
He quirked his brow, not liking the tone of her voice.
“After all, I wouldn’t want to look terrible for your oh-so-important meeting tonight.”
"Indeed. You wouldn't."
His tone was flat and laced with resentment. He walked over to the closest and grabbed her coat - handing it out to her. He wondered if she would notice that he didn't stand behind her to help her into it, the way he usually did.
"Lets get going."

"Indeed. You wouldn't."
Halleigh gave him a dirty look, but she said nothing. Cajun was really starting to go a bit too far for her liking, and soon… soon she’d have to deal with that. Possibly by hitting him in the head with a frying pan for particularly ironic effect. She’d definitely love to hear his view on women’s rights then.
She took her coat, draping it over her arm, and got to her feet.
”Let’s get going.”
“Yes, lets.”
