Miso's life was changing, she was no longer able to shut the rest of the world out or be a shell of a girl. She had been responsible for this change in her life, she could of just as well lived day by day ignoring everyone and driving straight home from work every night. If people knew some of the things she heard from people's heads they would of been surprised that Miso didn't just lock herself in her house forever.
Miso wondered how Sookie Stackhouse did it, but unfortunately the girl was still missing and had been for a year. A few people assumed it had been Bill Compton that killed her, well the majority of people thought that way. Miso, who hadn't even met Sookie Stackhouse, had a gut feeling that Sookie was very much alive and that she would be found when she wanted to be.
Miso had been driving home late this particular day, her tensions running high because of the looming full moon in the night sky. A lot of things came out during the full moon, things that would eat Miso up if she didn't get straight home and lock her doors. Fate was not favoring her well that night when the battery suddenly died and her wheel locked, forcing her to pull over to the shoulder. She sat in her car for a moment, looking around her to see if anything was going to pop out from the dark at her. She reached over to the passenger side, pulling out a flashlight from the cubby hole.
"I can't get anywhere sitting in my car like a scared little mouse."
Her encouraging voice to herself didn't sound encouraging at all but her slender digits pushed the button that popped the hood before she eased outside. She made her way to the front of her car, aiming the flashlight toward the engine with a distaught look on her face.
"What am I doing? I don't know a thing about car's"
"Looks like dinner delivered itself tonight"
She actually screamed as the voice suddenly cut through the silence and she turned around sharply with her back against the car. The flashlight dropped to the ground at her feet but remained on, giving the figure an even more menacing appearance.
He towered over Miso, then again most men did tower over the petite 5'1 woman. He was grubby with thick blond hair and a beard that gave him a look of glorified red neck and he was a vampire - the only reason he was able to sneak up on her the way he did.
Miso's heart was racing, her hands braced against the car as her dark caramel eyes looked up toward him. He leaned in closer to her, until her hand shot out in a pitiful attempt to keep him at bay.
"Shit, you smell fucking sweet!"
"I... I am under Gin's pro.. protection"
She stuttered out the words, and the vampire had actually laughed at her.
"Gin? The king's procurer? A little slip of a girl like you? Everyone knows he doesn't bother with humans, much less go to the trouble of protecting any one. You are lying"
"I am not lying"
"Then prove it, where are your marks?"
"Marks?"
The vampire slipped closer to her, his hand went to her cheek and pushed it to the side to reveal her neck.
"I knew you were fucking lying, you haven't even been tasted. I bet you taste as good as you smell"
His tongue came out and rolled over his lips, his fangs immediately extended as he wasted no time moving to sink his fangs into her flesh.
"No!!!"
A bright light emitted from the palm of Miso's hand and the vampire suddenly went flying several feet away from her. Miso was breathing heavily, the light fading quickly from her hand as she found herself staring at the stunned vampire laying on the road a few feet in front of her. He wouldn't be stunned long and Miso knew her only other choice was to run. She had seen too many horror movies to even dare getting back in her car in hopes the car would miraculously start again so she ran as fast as her legs would carry her - into the forest.
Meanwhile the vampire stumbled to his feet, now he was only hungrier for the Asian girl who just sent him flying across the pavement by a spark of sudden light. "What the fuck was that?" It felt like nature herself was forcing him away the girl and that only intrigued him more. He brushed himself off and yelled into the night before taking off to find her. "Run run little lightning bug. I'm gonna get cha - and then I'm gonna eat cha!!
Miso heard him as she ran through the forest, heart racing and legs burning. The sun wasn't coming up any time soon so she could hardly count on that helping her out. There was no mistaking it - Miso was in big trouble.
