Perhaps she should have called before she showed up on his doorstep, begging for a new place to live. It would have at least been the polite thing to do, but Holly and Hoyt had hardly done anything “properly” so far. When Holly dropped her off in the driveway, it had only taken one good look to discern that he was home- the truck was in the driveway and there were lights inside, possibly from the television. Holly took a deep breath and blew it out slowly. She was more nervous than she had thought she would be- and not just because it was only a matter of time before Russell came looking for her to atone for her part in the whole mess.
Holly raised a hand and knocked tentatively on the wooden door, shifting her weight from foot to foot. A chilly breeze made her shrink in on herself, and she glanced over her shoulder as if she felt someone watching her- though that was surely her paranoia. Now that the adrenaline was dying off, sheer panic was settling into Holly at the enormity of what she had done. They had raised a fucking body! And not just any body, but Talbot Edgington! Maybe it wasn’t such a smart idea to stay with Hoyt… if he wasn’t so disgusted with her he kicked her out, then she would be a threat to his safety.
But where would she go? She didn’t have much time to contemplate that before the door opened and she was face to face with her boyfriend- whose arms Holly promptly launched herself into.

Hoyt had been watching Holmes on Homes with his microwavable dinner on his lap, paying little mind to how tasteless the whole thing was. Not that he really noticed anyway, when you ate the same thing enough you kind of just got use to it. Besides, it did was it was suppose to - it filled up his stomach which was comforting enough.
He just finished his peas when a commercial came on and there was a knock at the door. He didn't know who was knocking at his door, but it could of been anybody. As long as it wasn't his mother, Hoyt would be happy with any visitor. Even Jason would of been a welcome sight, he hadn't seen his best friend for almost a week now and that was very unlike Jason.
He was surprised it was Holly. He was even more surprised when Holly suddenly latched her arms around him as if she hadn't seen him in weeks. He looked down at her, slipping one arm around her as his other hand rubbed her back. Something seemed... wrong.
"Holly? Is everything alright?"

Holly held onto him tightly, her face buried in his chest. They had been a couple for not even 48 hours and already he had seen her fall apart more times than anyone else in the world.
"Holly? Is everything alright?"
A humorless laugh bubbled up, and she pulled away long enough to take his hand and pull him inside, shutting the door. It was unlikely Russell was done with Hallow yet, but it was better to be safe than sorry- and she wasn’t going to take the chance that he got hold of Hoyt either. “I’ve fucked up, Hoyt. I’ve fucked up so bad.” She pulled away from him, placing her back against the door as if to reinforce it, and folded her arms over her chest to keep from shaking. Now that she was away from Hallow, it was beginning to hit her just what they had done- and what Holly had done to herself.
“We raised a dead body tonight, Hoyt- a dead fucking body! And not just any body, but Talbot Edgington!” Her voice had taken on a shrill, nearly hysterical note, and she laughed again. How did she get herself into these messes? She tried to be a good person, to do the right thing, but nothing ever came of it- she was so screwed once Russell found out, so screwed and so dead. “And now the coven is gone, and Hallow has Talbot fucking Edgington at the shop, and I… I left… I left and I’m homeless, oh my goddess, what the fuck did I do?” She could feel tears brimming in her eyes- she was never going to see her son again, and Hoyt… Hoyt was dead just because she was here. Everything was a mess.

She pulled him inside abruptly, as if she was expecting somebody to appear out of the shadows and snatch the both of them up. Now Hoyt was really concerned, because Holly had her back against the door as if she was expecting someone to come through it. “I’ve fucked up, Hoyt. I’ve fucked up so bad.”
"Holly? It's alright, calm down. You are safe here, just tell me what happened"
She looked like she was going to break into a panic at any time now, and Hoyt closed the distance between them so that he could keep her relatively calm.
“We raised a dead body tonight, Hoyt- a dead fucking body! And not just any body, but Talbot Edgington!”
His mouth actually dropped. "Wait... what? Talbot Edgington, as in Russell Edgington?" Even Hoyt knew about Russell Edgington, everyone in the town of Bon Temps and half way across the world knew about Russell Edgington. Anyone who watched the news anyway, it was the reason Fangtasia turned into a haven for the FOTS picketers. "Holy hell Holly, I never realized such a thing could be done"
And it was even worse that Holly was pulled into it.. he knew there was a good reason he didn't trust Hallow.
“And now the coven is gone, and Hallow has Talbot fucking Edgington at the shop, and I… I left… I left and I’m homeless, oh my goddess, what the fuck did I do?”
He pulled her closer, letting her cry into his chest as he ran his hand through her hair and rubbed her back with his free hand. "I won't let anything happen to you. You can stay here, vampires can't come in without an invitation. How did you get manage to get away? Hallow doesn't seem like the type to just let you go"

She needed to calm down, to breathe, to run… something. Holly had always been a girl of action, and when she was finally forced to retreat, it caused her to panic. But as he moved closer, something about the nearness of Hoyt made her at least take a moment to collect her breath.
"Holly? It's alright, calm down. You are safe here, just tell me what happened"
She knew that her story was an unlikely one- but the fact that Hoyt believed her made a rush of gratitude swell within her.
"Wait... what? Talbot Edgington, as in Russell Edgington?"
She nodded miserably. “His lover. His onetime dead lover.”
"Holy hell Holly, I never realized such a thing could be done"
“It’s really, really dark magick, and I never thought…. I didn’t think that Hallow was capable of it. She used the power of the coven, combined with the other work she had been doing, to make it happen.” And now they all were going to be dead. “He doesn’t remember who he is, or that he was a vampire, or any of it- but Russell will know. It’s only a matter of time.”
"I won't let anything happen to you. You can stay here, vampires can't come in without an invitation. How did you get manage to get away? Hallow doesn't seem like the type to just let you go"
Holly held onto him tighter as he rubbed her back, angry at herself for crying. She had got herself into this position, so why didn’t she do something about it? Oh, right, because Russell Edgington ripped people’s spines out for laughs. He wasn’t even here yet and Holly’s was missing.
“Staying here would just bring you into this, too. I can’t do that to you.” She raised a hand to wipe her eyes. She had to pull herself together and think quickly. “I didn’t exactly ask for permission.” She admitted, looking up at him. “If I had known she would start doing necromancy, I never would have gone to her in the first place. You have to believe that about me. I am not a dark witch.”

“His lover. His onetime dead lover.”
Hoyt's eyes widened, that didn't sound very good at all. He didn't think that somebody that evil was capable of love but for someone that evil to be capable of it he could only imagine what happened after it was taken away from him.
“It’s really, really dark magick, and I never thought…. I didn’t think that Hallow was capable of it. She used the power of the coven, combined with the other work she had been doing, to make it happen.”
"And your friend Brandy as well?" He expected this kind of thing from Hallow, not from Brandy.
“He doesn’t remember who he is, or that he was a vampire, or any of it- but Russell will know. It’s only a matter of time.”
He really really didn't like where this was going. Or what this meant.
“Staying here would just bring you into this, too. I can’t do that to you. I didn’t exactly ask for permission.”
"Holly, I am already involved in this. I won't let you go through this alone and you know you never have to ask my permission for anything."
Even if he had to follow Holly every day with a gun in his pocket he would be there for her. He cared about her, and he was her boyfriend - he had an obligation to protect her. It wasn't even an obligation, he needed too.
“If I had known she would start doing necromancy, I never would have gone to her in the first place. You have to believe that about me. I am not a dark witch.”
He shook his head, pressing his lips against hers he let the kiss linger before pulling away. "I know. Holly, I know you aren't a dark witch. We will get through this together, what happens now? Isn't she just as much a threat as Russell is? As much as it would be nice to just pack up and run away we can't. We have to do something. There isn't much I can offer but, maybe, you know somebody that can?"

Holly sighed, how did she get into these messes? Oh, right, she put her trust in the wrong people. Always.
"And your friend Brandy as well?"
“She was used, too. She wiped the minds of everyone but Talbot, Hallow and I. At least some good will come out of this.”
"Holly, I am already involved in this. I won't let you go through this alone and you know you never have to ask my permission for anything."
“I’m sorry, Hoyt.” She took his hand in her, squeezing it gently. “I never should have brought you into this.”
Holly calmed down a bit when he kissed her, her eyes staring into his as if he held the answers to everything in the world.
"I know. Holly, I know you aren't a dark witch. We will get through this together, what happens now? Isn't she just as much a threat as Russell is?”
“In her own way.” Holly admitted. That was why she had been so quick to let Brandy make her back down- now she just had to avoid Hallow and all would be great, right? Well, no, there was still Russell to deal with. “But she has a once-vampire to deal with, and his psychotic lover that’ll try to kill her. I think I’m a bit low on her priorities right now.” Or so she hoped.
As much as it would be nice to just pack up and run away we can't. We have to do something. There isn't much I can offer but, maybe, you know somebody that can?"
“Unless you happen to know any real-life vampire slayers, no, I think we’re pretty screwed.” All right, that was a bit mean of her- she winced. “I’m sorry. You’re just trying to help- I didn’t mean to bite your head off, but I’ve got nothing.”

“She was used, too. She wiped the minds of everyone but Talbot, Hallow and I. At least some good will come out of this.”
"Brandy did that? That, was a good thing right?"
Hoyt was a bit confused, he didn't really understand this whole magic thing. All he knew was that is was very real and that Holly was in very real danger. It was just too bad he was just a human - he held no supernatural powers like a vampire or a witch did. Maybe he had, he would be able to protect Holly better.
“I never should have brought you into this.”
Hoyt just shook his head, kissing her fingertips.
"Don't be, I'm glad you did."
He was a bit surprised at Holly's answer when he questioned if Hallow was just as much of a threat as Russell was. He certainly thought she was, even more so.
“In her own way.”
"I would think Hallow would be a bigger threat. She is human, at least in the morning you are safe from a vampire. Plus, vampires can't come inside without being invited - there isn't exactly a rule like that for her"
At least, not as far as Hoyt knew.
“Unless you happen to know any real-life vampire slayers, no, I think we’re pretty screwed.”
He didn't see it as her being mean, even as she apologized.
"I just mean maybe if you talked to Brandy? You said she erased everyone's memories right? Surely she had a reason for that and the way you talk about her it seems she is powerful like you. Have you thought about asking her? Maybe she already has a plan"
He hoped Brandy had a plan, because Holly and him sure didn't.

"Brandy did that? That, was a good thing right?"
“I hope so.” Holly said sincerely. There was always a chance that Russell wouldn’t give a shit that they didn’t remember and eat them anyway, but it was a bit late to do anything else for them. At least they didn’t have to live in fear for their last moments.
"Don't be, I'm glad you did."
When he kissed her fingers, Holly couldn’t help but smile ever so slightly. This boyfriend thing was still new to her, and Hoyt’s gentleness and patience with her never failed to surprise her. “I just hope I’m doing the right thing getting you involved.”
"I would think Hallow would be a bigger threat. She is human, at least in the morning you are safe from a vampire. Plus, vampires can't come inside without being invited - there isn't exactly a rule like that for her"
“If Talbot wasn’t in the picture, I would completely agree with you. As it is, she has to watch him, prepare for Russell, and take on us. She’s a threat, yes, but she’s also a divided threat. Russell isn’t babysitting any recently risen bodies, as far as I know, and the sun is only up for a few hours. You saw what he can do when he wants to- if he wants my spine for a necklace, there’s little I can do about it.”
"I just mean maybe if you talked to Brandy? You said she erased everyone's memories right? Surely she had a reason for that and the way you talk about her it seems she is powerful like you. Have you thought about asking her? Maybe she already has a plan"
“Maybe she does, I don’t know. We didn’t exactly talk about it on the way here.” Maybe they should have, but Holly had been too busy trying not to throw up as she stared out the window, half expecting Russell to jump on the car at any moment and kill them both. “Either way… there’s nothing we can do about it tonight- it’s too dangerous to go out again with the sun down. Did I… pull you away from something?”

“I just hope I’m doing the right thing getting you involved.”
"It would of been worse if you didn't. At least this way I can be here for emotional support, you'll need that too Holly"
It was something he knew he wouldn't want to face alone. A powerful witch and an even more powerful vampire looking to take advantage of you somehow? Not exactly his idea of a good time. "And Russell doesn't know what you did yet right? That mean's there is still time to fix things. I would think he would be after Hallow more than you Holly, best to maybe let her fight her own battle"
Or, perhaps it wouldn't matter who was the main one at fault. Maybe Russell didn't even care. Oh brother, it simply was too much for Hoyt to wrap his mind around. He tended to be lucky enough to be able to stay out of such things. Even when he was with Jessica he didn't get involved in "vampire" business. He was pretty much useless to Jessica's vampire "Family" anyway.
"Well he has some humanity left in him doesn't he? He cared enough to love Talbot, maybe you can play on that and he will spare you"
It was a long shot, but then again - this was way out of Hoyt's usual day-to-day experiences.
“Maybe she does, I don’t know. We didn’t exactly talk about it on the way here.”
Hoyt felt bad for prodding so much, making all the suggestions that he was. Holly probably just wanted to get away, if only for a few hours.
"You are stressed Holly, maybe we should talk about something else for awhile. I am pretty sure you are safe tonight."
“Either way… there’s nothing we can do about it tonight- it’s too dangerous to go out again with the sun down. Did I… pull you away from something?”
They had pretty much said the same thing at the same time. He simply shook his head, glancing toward the television.
"I wouldn't exactly call the microwave dinner and Holmes on Homes something to pull me away from. To be honest with you, I didn't really have any plans except for watching the television. We can do something different, if you want."

"It would of been worse if you didn't. At least this way I can be here for emotional support, you'll need that too Holly"
Holly nodded mutely. Wasn’t part of being a couple sharing your life with one another- the good and the bad? Holly had little good to share at the moment, but she had plenty of bad he was welcome to if he felt inclined to take it from her.
"And Russell doesn't know what you did yet right? That mean's there is still time to fix things. I would think he would be after Hallow more than you Holly, best to maybe let her fight her own battle"
Maybe she should, but Holly’s loyalties didn’t flip so quickly. Though she had had the blinders pulled from her eyes regarding Hallow, part of her still thought of the woman as someone who had pulled her up out of the gutters to put her back on her feet when she didn’t even know what direction the ground was in. “Maybe he will overlook me, but the only way to make sure that it’s fixed is to find a way to go back in time and stop her before this even happened. I don’t know a spell for that.” What did she know? She knew how to run, but that was the cowardly approach- and something in Hoyt made her want to be brave.
"Well he has some humanity left in him doesn't he? He cared enough to love Talbot, maybe you can play on that and he will spare you"
“Maybe.” She agreed, her mind turning as it processed the various ideas that were beginning to form. She was a witch, and a strong one- and she also had a knack for surviving in even the toughest of situations. There was nothing Russell could do to her that worse hadn’t been done before. She would get through this- if she was smart about it.
"You are stressed Holly, maybe we should talk about something else for awhile. I am pretty sure you are safe tonight."
She nodded meekly, the idea pleasing to her. She didn’t want to think about Russell, or about anything depressing when she was with Hoyt. She wanted, in some twisted pride way, to show him that he had chose right in picking her for his girlfriend- even as damaged as she was. It was just rather unfortunate he had wandered into her life at such a chaotic time.
"I wouldn't exactly call the microwave dinner and Holmes on Homes something to pull me away from. To be honest with you, I didn't really have any plans except for watching the television. We can do something different, if you want."
Dinner? Holly blinked as it occurred to her she hadn’t eaten anything, though she didn’t find herself carrying a particular appetite. She was too nervous. “I could make you… something else.” She offered, giving a small shrug. She wasn’t the best cook in the world, but she was passable. “I just want to be near you.” His aura was almost magnetic to hers…
