= = = Karen's heart was racing as she snapped the photographs, the pictures were fuzzy but Richard would get the point. She couldn't of asked for it to play out better herself. Richard would want proof, he wouldn't just take her word on it. Richard was dating a slut, a fangbanging slut nonetheless - oh this was too perfect! Karen was gloating, giddy with glee until, quite suddenly, a figure appeared out of no where and ended up on Miso's balcony.
But the figured didn't appear out of nowhere, the figure was just fast enough that it appeared that way and Karen pulled out her binoculars to get a better look at who it was.
"Holy fuck!"
It was Russell fucking Edgington! In her own shock the camera fell from her lap and shattered on the ground below her.
"Shit!"
She snapped her hand over her mouth when Russell suddenly turned his head in her direction. She ducked down quickly - her heart racing as she rushed down from the tree and picked up the remains of the camera. She wasn't sticking around, she would have to just tell Richard what she saw and hope he became suspicious enough to break it off with Miso.
She didn't have a death wish. She couldn't win Richard's heart if she was dead. ===
Russell had followed Gin's scent here, and Russell couldn't help but to be very very curious as to what his old friend was doing in a place like this. Russell had just finished feasting on an entire brothel of humans so his hunger was satisfied.. for now, which was why he didn't pursue the blond hair human who almost fell out of the tree she had been hiding in.
He was curious as to what she was doing spying on this apartment however, but lucky for her his curiosity was more interested on what was beyond the balcony doors. It was a human's home so he couldn't exactly force his way inside - what he could do however was take a seat on one of the balcony chairs and call out to him. How odd that he was feeling incredibly.. intrigued that night.
"Oh Gin Takeuchi, are you in there my boy? I do hope you have some time for an old friend."

Gin never would have thought this was how he was going to spend his evening, that was for certain, but it seemed as if the surprises weren’t quite over.
He had just had enough time to pull his pants on- and vaguely consider where his shirt had got to- when he heard it. There was nothing wrong with Gin’s ears, at least as far as he noticed, but he couldn’t have possibly heard what he thought he had…
"Oh Gin Takeuchi, are you in there my boy?”
Russell? Russell was dead… Gin sat up in bed, his head trained towards the front door like a hound scenting its master. He had completely forgotten about Miso next to him, he had forgot his own name- the only thing that mattered was that his king had returned from the dead, and he was here. Even more than that, he was calling for him.
I do hope you have some time for an old friend."
Even vamp speed felt too slow as he vaulted over the bed and down the hall, throwing open the door and launching himself outside so fast he nearly slid off the porch into the grass- and wouldn’t that be a sight for his king… For indeed, it was Russell. No imposter could have fooled Gin- this was his king.
“My liege,” The young vampire stooped into a bow, his disheveled hair falling over his shoulder. “How… how did you…?” He was fortunate that vampires didn’t blush, for Gin certainly would have been right then. He was a mess- which was unacceptable. “I am at your service as always…”

Gin had moved out of bed so fast that Miso's brown bangs flew upwards from the breeze that had followed. She shot her head toward the direction that he fled and the last thing she heard was the balcony door suddenly opening. Whatever got Gin's attention that quickly was a very big deal and Miso was already reaching to put some clothes on so she could satisfy her own curiosity.
===
“My liege,”
"Well there you are, I was beginning to think I had the wrong balcony"
Russell had a bright yet.. amused smile on his face as he leaned back in the chair. He put his hands together, quite pleased to see Gin was still around and still considered him his king. Such loyalty was such a rare thing these days... pity.
“How… how did you…?”
"I picked up your scent after I cleaned out a human brothel not too far from here. What brings you to a place like - - "
That was when Miso came into view, her slender hand resting against the balcony doorway as her dark brown hues focused on the scene in front of her.
"Oh, I see. What a pretty thing you are. Don't be shy child, come on out. I've already fed."
“I am at your service as always…”
Curiously, Miso stepped over the threshold of the doorway and placed herself on the balcony right behind Gin. She knew who she was in front of, and she nodded politely to him. She had no idea that Gin knew Russell, and like everyone else in the world she didn't think that Russell was even alive.
"Such loyalty is so rare in vampires these days. But you Gin, your loyalty hasn't gone unnoticed. There is a reason I have sought you out, I need your services. I - wait a minute"
Russell rose to his feet, sniffing the air as his eyes suddenly fell upon Miso more closely.
"That smell. I know that smell"
Russell's fangs suddenly extended and he was in front of Miso before Miso could even think. His hand immediately went to her chin and he lifted her chin up so he could look right into her eyes.
"Fairy... fucking fairies. Gin, is she your's? How bloody perfect. Do you have telepathic abilities like that Sookie bitch? Hmm? Or can I just eat you now? Because I bet you are simply delicious"

"Well there you are, I was beginning to think I had the wrong balcony"
“My apologies I didn’t answer fast enough.” Gin dared to glance up, wondering exactly what the source of that particular smile was. Russell could be the most obliging of kings… or he could be downright cruel. It was just a matter of figuring which mood he was in.
"I picked up your scent after I cleaned out a human brothel not too far from here. What brings you to a place like - - "
Gin straightened when Miso joined them, his eyes flicking from her to Russell. He had honestly forgot all about her in his rush to get back to his true king… and that made him feel more than a little guilty. If Russell decided that he wanted Miso, Gin… well, Gin wouldn’t stand in his way. He hoped that it didn’t come to that choice, however.
"Oh, I see. What a pretty thing you are. Don't be shy child, come on out. I've already fed."
“Your highness, this is, ah, Miso… Miso, my king, Russell Edgington…” Yep, this was definitely a rock and a hard place. Gin didn’t like it much.
"Such loyalty is so rare in vampires these days. But you Gin, your loyalty hasn't gone unnoticed. There is a reason I have sought you out, I need your services. I - wait a minute"
Gin blinked- Russell had come back from the dead to praise his loyalty? This had to be a dream… but wait, he said that there was something he need- what was he doing? As Russell moved to stand, Gin looked up at the slightly taller vampire. What was going on?
"That smell. I know that smell"
“Sir?”
Gin swallowed when Russell was suddenly right in front of Miso, his own loyalties being tested. He sent a silent prayer to a god he didn’t believe in that none of them would be dead a few minutes from now.
"Fairy... fucking fairies. Gin, is she your's? How bloody perfect. Do you have telepathic abilities like that Sookie bitch? Hmm? Or can I just eat you now? Because I bet you are simply delicious"
“Yes… she is… mine.” If she doesn’t want me dead after this. “She is telepathic as well, my liege, I think she would serve you better… alive, yes?”

“My apologies I didn’t answer fast enough.”
Russell waved his hand, as if 'waving' the apology away. "Calm down Gin, I'm not here to criticize how fast you can run out of a bedroom."
It didn't take long for Russell to put two and two together as to the real reason Gin was there. He saw it the moment Miso had come out of the apartment and the glances had been exchanged.
“Your highness, this is, ah, Miso… Miso, my king, Russell Edgington…”
"Miso? As in the soup?"
He actually smirked as he looked over toward the girl. Miso bowed again, as if she could bow anymore than she already was. Miso was no fool, she knew what Russell being here had meant.
"Hai... like the soup"
Miso sometimes threw in Japanese mannerisms when she was nervous. Miso had every reason to be nervous, if Russell decided he wanted to eat her there was little Gin could do about it. Everyone knew how powerful Russell was, that he was someone to be feared - the whole world witnessed how easily it had been for him to de-spine a living person.
Miso didn't want to think about it.
And that was when it happened. Miso couldn't move as she found herself looking right into Russell's blue eyes. Her very life was in Russell's hands and he could snap her like a twig if he wanted. She was fighting back tears as Russell spoke to Gin, and now it became very apparent that her life was actually in Gin's hands.
“Yes… she is… mine.”
Russell's smile got brighter and Miso swore his fangs grew even more.
"Do you realize how special that makes you, Soup? Gin never chose a human as long as he was in my service. There was never one special enough to take his interest, never mind keep it. "
Miso could only swallow and nod slowly, but in her mind she actually... she actually felt special. Important. It meant so much to her, but she couldn't say what she wanted too. She couldn't even speak.
“She is telepathic as well, my liege, I think she would serve you better… alive, yes?”
Russell actually laughed, this was all too perfect. He turned his head to look at Gin, while still keeping his hand on Miso's chin.
"Oh, stop it Gin. You had me at hello"
And back to Miso.
"A telepath hmm? Excellent! I couldn't of asked for a better outcome. You did good Gin, don't let this one go. She loves you. I do cherish love, admiration, and loyalty. All the things I had with my dear Talbot. Until that fucking viking took him away from me"
Miso's face turned sheet white, deciding not to question. She was way out of her league here. This was no time to be embarrassed.
"Did you know that fucking viking tricked me? Him and Bill, and that rotten blond bitch Sookie poured my Talbot down a sink disposal. A fucking sink disposal. He deserved better than that. What would you do Soup, if someone did that to Gin?"
"I would destroy them."
The coldness in Miso's voice had surprised her, and she answered without a moment hesitation. Russell spread out his hands and then clapped his hands together.
"Exactly! My dear, I just LOVE your spirit."
There was a moment pause as he returned to the balcony chair he had been previously sitting on.
"So yes, where was I? Oh yes. So as it turns out, fairy blood allows us to walk in the sun for a certain amount of time. I was tricked into thinking it was more.. permanent than that. I almost burned into dust, but they made the mistake of keeping me alive. Bill and Eric chained me with silver and put me deep in the ground. Buried me under miles of cement - can you believe that Gin? I mean, the disrespect alone. Disgraceful"
Like he said before, vampires lacked the respect they use to have.
"I had just about given up, starved for weeks I honestly thought I was going to die the true death down there. Until I felt Talbot's essence and I crawled out of that cement grave with my bare hands. There is no explanation for it, but in this I am certain, Talbot is alive somehow. You do know what this means don't you? This means the job I have for you is the most important job of them all and I believe this telepath of yours can help us find Talbot. You both help me with this, and I promise you - there aren't words for how well you will be rewarded"

"Calm down Gin, I'm not here to criticize how fast you can run out of a bedroom."
Then what was he here for? Not that Gin minded, but still… this whole night was downright bizarre.
"Miso? As in the soup?"
"Hai... like the soup"
Gin couldn’t have been more pleased that Miso had decided to just go with it, allowing Russell to say whatever the hell he wanted- regardless of what she was feeling. Gin wasn’t so sure that Russell hadn’t decided to make a snack of her yet. Best to placate him- he had been downright unpredictable since Talbot had… passed. Gin didn’t understand the emotion- he hadn’t been a fan of Talbot at all, and Talbot had downright hated him- and he had never been in love. Watching his liege go downhill and not be able to do anything had been painful, to say the least.
But here Russell was.
"Do you realize how special that makes you, Soup? Gin never chose a human as long as he was in my service. There was never one special enough to take his interest, never mind keep it. "
Gin opened his mouth to protest, but there was nothing he could say to that- it was the truth. Russell was even more observant than Gin had credited him for.
"Oh, stop it Gin. You had me at hello"
With those words, Gin knew that Miso was safe… for now. Russell would have at least apologized if he planned on eating her.
"A telepath hmm? Excellent! I couldn't of asked for a better outcome. You did good Gin, don't let this one go. She loves you. I do cherish love, admiration, and loyalty. All the things I had with my dear Talbot. Until that fucking viking took him away from me"
Love? That was surely an exaggeration- Russell had always had a soft spot for romantic stories, apparently the opportunity to make Gin into one was too hard to resist. “I… I won’t.” Besides, Miso couldn’t love him. They didn’t know each other well enough for that, and here he was, holding court on her lawn. Right, great lover material. Fanfuckingtastic. “Your highness…?”
"Did you know that fucking viking tricked me? Him and Bill, and that rotten blond bitch Sookie poured my Talbot down a sink disposal. A fucking sink disposal. He deserved better than that. What would you do Soup, if someone did that to Gin?"
Her response made Gin pause, and he licked his tongue nervously over his teeth. He had to be dreaming. This was simply too crazy not to be. “My liege, with all due respect…” Perhaps he shouldn’t come clean with Miso standing so close… Gin shut his mouth again.
Disgraceful. "I had just about given up, starved for weeks I honestly thought I was going to die the true death down there."
“They told me you were dead.” Gin’s voice was as cold as the grave, the anger on his face palpable as his fangs descended. “That you had died the true death by meeting the sun- and I was stupid enough to believe them. They knew where my loyalty was- so they offered me the true death… or I could work for Bill Compton as his procurer, as I had been doing for you for so long.” His tone grew harsh, each word accented with his bitterness. “He took your kingdom, my liege, and has held it as his own- and has kept me on a tight leash every step of the way. Had I known… that you had not left us, I would have staked the bastard myself. Northman too. Please do not think my loyalty has ever wavered, despite my cowardice. I will willingly submit myself to any punishment you think worthy of my disbelief.”
“Talbot?” Gin repeated, biting his tongue from saying the obvious- Talbot was dead. It had been the first night that Gin had failed Russell- he hadn’t been on the premisis the night that Talbot had been staked. He had been miles away, satisfying his own base needs. “Your highness…” His gaze flicked to Miso. No one came back from the dead- not even when Russell Edgington wanted them to, desperately.
But he didn’t say what he was thinking. “I will find Talbot for you, or die trying.”

“They told me you were dead.”
Russell was pulled away from his one-sided conversation as his fangs snapped out, the anger and shock apparent on his face as his focus shifted right to Gin. "What?"
“That you had died the true death by meeting the sun- and I was stupid enough to believe them. They knew where my loyalty was- so they offered me the true death… or I could work for Bill Compton as his procurer, as I had been doing for you for so long.”
"Those fucking savages!! And they call me the bad guy? Stupid fools, how narrow minded and self righteous they are. I should of killed every last one of them when I had a chance!"
Oh, Miso's poor poor balcony chair. It shattered under Russell's grasp as his hand went through the steel-enforced arm. Russell was gritting his teeth as he looked at Gin, listening very carefully as Gin continued on. The thought that Gin betrayed him hadn't once entered his mind, and had he of not been so grief-stricken by Talbot's death he would of found a way to let his own procurer know what the hell had happened to him.
Oh no, but it had gotten better. The other news that had slipped past Gin's mouth had caused Russell to rise from the chair.
The next sound was the sound of a glass table shattering into a million pieces over the balcony. Miso's trembling hand had went to cover her mouth after a gasp forced its way past. There was coldness in Russell's eyes as he shook the glass shards off of his fist and looked directly at Gin.
"You are not the coward. There was no way you could of known the truth, however to think for a moment that Bill Compton is the fucking King of anything makes me sick to my stomach. When Talbot is found mark my words, I will be taking back my crown"
Miso was still staring at the broken shards that littered the floor of the balcony, tiny shards that reflected the moonlight. She looked back toward the two vampires, finally realizing that she had just been pulled right into the middle of something that was a very big deal. The beginning of a war, she was certain.
“Your highness… " Miso met Gin's gaze. “I will find Talbot for you, or die trying.”
"I am shall there will be no need for that, Gin."
Finally, Miso had spoke. "I won't let that happen."
Like a light switch, Russell had clapped his hands together with a laugh. "Excellent! What a delightful girl! Oh, and I do apologize for the table. And the chair. I usually left such matters of replacing things to Talbot but until he comes back, Gin - you will see that it is taken care of correct?"
He had turned to Gin right then, walking over to him he placed his hand on Gin's shoulder. "You have made me truly proud of you, Gin. There is no other vampire I want to serve in my kingdom more than you and I will make sure your place is of great importance. Once Talbot is back home we can all be a family again. Come by the mansion tomorrow night. Feel free to bring the girl." He gave Miso one last look before looking back at Gin. "There isn't a doubt in my mind that you will find Talbot, Gin. I look forward to it."
Just as quick as he had arrived he was gone, shooting up into the air and leaving a breeze behind him. Miso could only stare at the spot he was once standing in. She could still feel her heart pounding in her ears.
"Gin... I..."
She looked at him, not having one single idea what to say.

"Those fucking savages!! And they call me the bad guy? Stupid fools, how narrow minded and self righteous they are. I should of killed every last one of them when I had a chance!"
Well, it was a bit late for that. Russell was capable of a lot, but even time travel was beyond him- which was rather unfortunate. Gin watched passively as Russell made kindling of Miso’s chair, not daring to say anything that would set the older vampire off further. If Russell wanted to destroy furniture, well, at least it wasn’t his or Miso’s neck. When the table followed the chair, however, Gin winced. No doubt Miso would want nothing to do with him after this.
Gin met Russell’s eyes as he spoke, Gin’s own face impassive.
"You are not the coward. There was no way you could of known the truth, however to think for a moment that Bill Compton is the fucking King of anything makes me sick to my stomach. When Talbot is found mark my words, I will be taking back my crown"
“He isn’t a good king,” Gin stated honestly. “He panders to Nan Flanagan’s every whim- Bill may be sitting on the throne, but it’s Nan that’s ruling. I don’t know what happened to Mississippi, though. Bill only holds possession of Louisiana.” Gin had little doubt that Russell would succeed in taking back his throne- so he might as well fill him in on the state of affairs now.
"I am shall there will be no need for that, Gin."
Gin wasn’t so sure, but he wasn’t about to say that to Russell. Talbot was dead- he didn’t know what Russell had felt, this “essence,” but Gin had seen the jar that had once held Talbot’s remains. The only thing they might still find of Talbot was some gristle caught in Fangtasia’s plumbing.
"Excellent! What a delightful girl! Oh, and I do apologize for the table. And the chair. I usually left such matters of replacing things to Talbot but until he comes back, Gin - you will see that it is taken care of correct?"
“Of course, my liege.” Really, he’d probably give her the money to choose her own- he wasn’t much for interior decorating. His own home was minimalist at best. “Whatever you wish.”
"You have made me truly proud of you, Gin. There is no other vampire I want to serve in my kingdom more than you and I will make sure your place is of great importance. Once Talbot is back home we can all be a family again. Come by the mansion tomorrow night. Feel free to bring the girl."
“You honor me, your highness.” Gin gave a slight bow, the rigid formality somewhat suited to him. His curiousity was definitely piqued- what did Russell possibly want him to accomplish tomorrow? “I will be certain to be there right after nightfall.” The mansion had been left vacant since Russell’s “demise,” but Gin had seen to it himself that it was protected from looters and Bill. The security team he had had installed worked only for him- but they knew who Russell was. Everyone did.
"There isn't a doubt in my mind that you will find Talbot, Gin. I look forward to it."
Gin was glad someone had faith in him- he didn’t. After Russell zoomed off he looked up at the sky after him, not seeing.
"Gin... I..."
“This is madness.”

“He panders to Nan Flanagan’s every whim- Bill may be sitting on the throne, but it’s Nan that’s ruling. I don’t know what happened to Mississippi, though. Bill only holds possession of Louisiana.”
"Well, we will take care of that soon enough. The most important thing to me is getting back Talbot. First Talbot, then my kingdom, then I will be bring Bill, Eric, and that blond bitch Sookie Stackhouse down to their knees"
Miso fell silent as Gin and Russell exchanged more words, knowing it wasn't her place to talk. This was way over her head, she was certain, even though she was involved in her own way. She watched as the last words were exchanged between them and only her and Gin were left on the balcony.
“This is madness.”
"You have me."
She took a step toward Gin, and without another word she wrapped her arms around him and rested her head on his chest. "I'll find Talbot. I can read minds, remember Gin? If Talbot is somehow alive, I'll find him." She rose her head slightly, looking up at him. "I promise"
